Sears Spyware Scandal: Shuts down part of site
We had reported on Thursday about the Sears spyware scandal. Well, the saga continues today with Sears scrambling to make amends after their tryst with spyware went public.
Sears has reportedly shut down a part of another of their e-commerce websites (see the statement at the end of this news) today. The shutdown follows the admission that they had allowed consumers to see details of the purchases made by other consumers.
Late last night, Sears had emailed a statement announcing that:
“we have turned off the ability to view a customer’s purchase history on Manage My Home until we can implement a validation process that will restrict access by unauthorized third parties.”

I am consistently amazed at America’s dumb criminals.
The “unauthorized 3rd parties” are the ones that they are giving this info to. And they’re not “authorized?”
