Imunizator: The “Unknown Trojan” has a Mac cousin
For the last several months, an “Unknown Trojan” has been wreaking havoc amongst computer users by infecting their systems. The attack is usually characterized by a notice: “You have been infected by the unknown Trojan”. It is now common knowledge that “Unknown Trojan” is not really very harmful. It is not a Trojan in any sense of the word.
The “Unknown Trojan” is in reality a camouflage malware that is injected into your computer with a purposeāto scare you into purchasing a certain software. These software are usually called “Rogueware”.
Well, it so appears that the uber-secure operating system, Mac OS X , now has a cousin of our dear old “Unknown Trojan” attacking its systems. It is commonly known as the Imunizator. The more technically inclined among us may choose to call it “Troj/MacSwp-B”. The Trojan is designed to scare Mac owners into purchasing rogue security software.
It is not something to be overly alert about, but if you are a Mac user, then you need to start keeping an eye on the security aspect of your system. Although sparse in comparison to Windows, the number of attacks against Macs are growing at the fast rate. In fact, it is the second such attack on Mac OS X in recent months.
